GREEN BAY — Russ Morgan, Safety Director at Northern Electric, Inc. (NEI) is presented with the Diamond level of ABC’s Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) award. Making the presentation from the ABC are Steve Stone, President and Bill Stranberg, Membership Director.

To achieve ABC’s STEP Diamond level, among other requirements, a company must have a total recordable incident rate at least 50 percent below specific industry averages for the two previous years, maintain an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.80, submit their official U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Forms 300 and 300A on work-related injuries and illnesses for review, and achieve a specific STEP self-evaluation score.

STEP awards are presented annually in six categories: Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each year, over 2,000 contractors of various sizes participate in the program. NEI is the only contractor in the state of Wisconsin to receive the diamond level in 2012.
