Our Timeline to Success

As a local family-owned business, Northern Electric has overcome many challenges and applauded even more milestones since opening its doors in 1992. While we continuously celebrate growth, we are humbled by how far we’ve come.

1992

How it all Began

Tracy and Jim Conard establish Northern Electric, Inc. on August 2, 1992. The first facility was located on University Avenue in Green Bay.

1994

Move to Danz Avenue

Northern Electric outgrows the first location and moves to 314 N. Danz Avenue in Green Bay, home to the current headquarters.

2001

First Facility Expansion

Northern Electric expands facilities on Danz Avenue to accommodate growing project management and estimator teams.

2002

Healthcare Division Opens

Working primarily in the Midwest, Northern Electric begins a healthcare division specializing in surgical lighting and sterilization equipment.

2004

National Recognition

Northern Electric receives the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Award.

2007

Employees Deunionize

On April 10, Northern Electric employees decertify with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. After ending their relationship with the union, 90% of the employees remain employed with Northern Electric and 5% retire shortly after.

2008

State Recognition

Tracy Conard wins the Women’s Business Enterprise Award from the Wisconsin Department of Administration.

2012

Second Facility Expansion

Northern Electric expands estimating and project management offices.

2015

Chamber Recognition

Northern Electric is nominated for the Greater Green Bay Chamber’s Cornerstone Award. Tracy and Jim’s son, Dalton Conard, joins the business as an apprentice.

2016

Katelyn Joins the Team

After graduating from the University of St. Thomas – Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in family business and a minor in entrepreneurship, Tracy and Jim’s oldest daughter, Katelyn Conard-Piontek, joins the staff as director of operations.

2017

Service and Staff Expansions

Northern Electric adds a second location on Brooks Street to be a prefab, maintenance and repair facility. Northern Electric also begins specializing in solar energy.

2018

Youngest Master Electrician

Dalton Conard finishes his schooling as the youngest master electrician in Wisconsin while working full-time at Northern Electric.

2019

Third Location in Door County

Northern Electric opens a third location at 231 Keel Court in Sturgeon Bay. The new office and warehouse allow the company to serve all of Door and Kewaunee Counties.

2020

Lauren Joins the Team

Tracy and Jim’s youngest daughter, Lauren Conard, begins working at Northern Electric as systems administrator after graduating high school.

2021

Healthcare Services Expansion

Northern Electric expands its Healthcare Equipment Installation service to provide storage, logistics and management.

Office Expansion

Northern Electric expands Danz Avenue location with additional office space for project managers.
